2 x 18650 Battery Case with DC Barrel

This battery case is a lot like our AA and AAA battery cases – it is just designed to fit the much larger (and incredibly common) 18650 Lithium cells. Best of all, with its center-pin-positive 2.1mm DC Barrel Jack, it will connect directly to boards like the Arduino Uno and Mega. This case allows these cells to be securely mounted into a project with relative ease. This version holds 2 x 18650 batteries wired in series, with a voltage of ~7.4V... [Read More]

SK6812 Digital RGBW LED Strip – 60 LED / Meter

Have you ever wanted a warmer White tone in your RGB strip lighting? Or have you wanted better representation of colors? These individually addressable LED strip lights are based on the SK6812 chip and feature a forth Warm White color element. The strip is enclosed in an IP67 rated weather resistant sleeve and can be cut between each LED if needed (every 16.65mm) to get the right length. Including a Warm White element in the LED allows for much better representation of color, the ability to create fine tuned white tones, and enhanced light patterns. Since each LED has its own driver, there is no need for power transistors... [Read More]

USB FTDI Interface Breakout – USB to GPIO

Wouldn't it be cool to drive a tiny OLED display, read a color sensor, or even just flash some LEDs directly from your computer? Sure you can program an Arduino or Trinket to talk to these devices and your computer, but why can't your computer just talk to those devices and sensors itself? Well, now your computer can talk to devices using the Adafruit FT232H breakout board. What can the FT232H chip do? This chip from FTDI is similar to their USB to serial converter chips but adds a 'multi-protocol synchronous serial engine' which allows it to speak many common protocols like SPI, I2C, serial UART, JTAG, and more. There's even a handful of digital GPIO pins that you can read and write to do things like flash LEDs, read switches or buttons, and more. The FT232H breakout is like adding a little swiss army knife for serial protocols to your computer. This chip is powerful and useful to have when you want to use Python (for example) to quickly iterate and test a device that uses I2C, SPI or plain general purpose I/O. There's no firmware to deal with, so you don't have to deal with how to "send data to and from an Arduino which is then sent to and from" an electronic sensor or display or part. Updated Product: Adafruit have given this venerable board a makeover... [Read More]
