New Products!

Another week and another selection of new products!

First off we have a couple of Raspberry Pi touch screens. Both fit on the Raspberry Pi Model A/B/B+ and can be used for the console, X window port, and displaying images or video. The 2.8″ touch screen is 320 x 240 resolution and uses a capacitive touch overlay – no fingernail or stylus required!


Makerspace Nanaimo – Grand Opening

Just a BIG reminder for anyone in the central Vancouver Island area – this Saturday is the Grand Opening for Makerspace Nanaimo! The event begins at 12:00 with burgers and hotdogs (with vegetarian options available) by donation. Many of the members will have their projects on display including a vintage computer, homemade CNC router, hand made guitars and at least one drone!


New Graphic Designer at BC Robotics!

This is Alex. Alex is our new Graphic Designer. He has already begun revamping BC Robotics’ banners and product pages (many to go!) He holds a Diploma in Graphic Arts from Vancouver Island University and has over 10 years of experience in his field. Alex is thrilled about being a part of a new industry that is evolving so quickly – we are very excited to have him as a part of our team!

With fall setting in we all find a little more time to work on our projects it seems… what better than a few more new products to get the ideas flowing for the weekend:

First off we have the Drawdio – this is way too much fun!


New Products / Update

Let’s start with the fun stuff – we have a couple new GSM boards available in the shop; The Adafruit FONA is a small GSM/GPRS breakout that allows you to add voice, mobile data, and txt to your project! The board also many other great features including: Onboard LiPo battery charging circuitry, TRRS headphone/mic jack, breakouts for an 8Ω speaker, a uFL connector for an external antenna, and a whole lot more!


Makerspace Nanaimo – Grand Opening!

We are happy to announce Makerspace Nanaimo will be having a grand opening October 4th from 12:00 – 3:00 PM. It has been nearly 6 months since volunteers began bringing the first pieces of equipment into the space and it is now time to showcase this great resource to the community.
