We are back at it again starting this week! Wednesday January 14th we will be hosting our first Arduino night of 2015. Officially we start at 7:00 PM and as always there will be a selection of parts and accessories available starting at 6:00 PM.

What is an Arduino Night?
An Arduino night is a gathering of people interested in Arduino. At an Arduino night people tinker, collaborate, and learn together in a fun social atmosphere. At one table there may be a discussion about the best way to read multiple sensors and output the data to the web while at another table there may be a group working their way through the very basics of the Arduino Starter kit – there is always something for everyone!

The deadline for express shipping in Canada is fast approaching; Monday at 2:00 PM Pacific time is the deadline to get your order in and have it arrive by December 24th. If you are in Western Canada you can probably get away with standard shipping up until 2:00 PM this (Friday) afternoon. If you are in a remote area we do advise contacting us as delivery standards are based on delivery to urban areas. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us!

Just in time for the holiday season – the Raspberry Pi Model A+ is here! The Raspberry Pi foundation has managed to find a way to make this wonderful single board computer even smaller and even lower cost. This lightweight Raspberry Pi has a single USB port, no Ethernet Jack, and is significantly smaller. Despite these changes, the Model A+ is still compatible with all your favourite Raspberry Pi operating systems.

Big reminder – Today is the Nanaimo Raspberry Jam; it will be running from 2-5PM at Makerspace Nanaimo (2221A McGarrigle Road). We invite anyone curious about this awesome little single board computer to come on down, the event is open to the public and free of charge! There will be demos, discussions, explanations, a variety of Pi’s set up to try out and add-on boards that let you do, well, pretty much anything you can imagine. We hope to see you there!
