Description
Unlike a standard 16×2 Character Display with a single backlight color, this display has Red, Green, and Blue LEDs that can be controlled through PWM to create custom backlight colors. Just like the standard 16×2 LCDs, 2 lines of 16 characters can be displayed – just with a lot more color!
This board is backwards compatible with standard 16×2 LCDs and will light up red. To get the full RGB experience two additional pins (17 and 18) are required for the green and blue LEDs. The LCD has resistors on board already so that you can drive it with 5V logic and the current draw will be ~20mA per LED.
This version includes a chunk of breakaway header and a 10K trim potentiometer – just solder on the header and hook it up on the breadboard!
