Adafruit DC Motor + Stepper FeatherWing

Adafruit DC Motor + Stepper FeatherWing

SKU: ADA-028 - Mfg Part Number: 2927

This is the Adafruit DC Motor + Stepper FeatherWing – a board designed to let you use 2 x bi-polar stepper motors or 4 x brushed DC motors (or 1 stepper and 2 DC motors) with any of the Adafruit Feather series of microcontrollers.

This is effectively the Adafruit Motor Shield squished down to fit in a Feather form factor – ideal for smaller, portable projects. Since this FeatherWing only uses I2C (SDA & SCL pins), it can be stacked with any other FeatherWing or with itself (just make sure you have each wing with a unique I2C address). There are 5 address-select jumper pads on the back of the board – means up to 32 stackable wings: that’s 64 steppers or 128 DC motors!

Instead of using a latch and the Arduino’s PWM pins, we have a fully-dedicated PWM driver chip onboard. This chip handles all the motor and speed controls over I2C. You can use any DC or stepper motors that run from 4.5-13.5VDC and draw under 1.2A per coil. You’ll likely also need to provide some external power supply for your motors, since its not suggested you run motors from the Feather’s lipoly battery.

Ships as an assembled FeatherWing with some header and screw terminals. Some light soldering is required to attach to your Feather.
