Some microcontrollers and single board computers do not have the ability to read analog signals. Since many sensors output a basic analog signal, having one of these can be very important in a variety of projects. This breakout board uses the ADS1015 12-bit analog to digital converter and makes adding analog capabilities to your project very straight forward.
The ADS1015 is a versatile little chip and can run on a voltage ranging from 2 – 5VDC. The 4 individual channels can be configured as 4 single-ended input channels or two differential channels. A 16x programmable gain amplifier is available to help boost signals to the full range. The chip communicates over I2C and features 4 configurable addresses, meaning up to 4 boards can be used within a single project.
Please keep in mind that this chip will not tolerate voltages on the input pins that exceed the voltage you are powering the board with.
