Description
The Arduino Pro 328 is SparkFun’s minimal design approach to Arduino. This is a 5V ATMEGA328 running the 16MHz Arduino bootloader in a sleek form factor that will easily fit into your next project.
To make this board a little more flexible than the standard Arduino, the Arduino Pro does not have any connectors soldered in place. You are free to solder any 0.100″ / 2.54mm pitch headers to suit your project’s needs. The board also does not have built in USB to Serial converter so it is typically not recommended for first time users of Arduino. This board is designed for users who understand the limitations of this lack of connectors and USB off board.
SparkFun makes the DC power jack footprint available, but does not to populate it; this is done keep the price as low as possible (and keep the board as thin as possible).
Since there is no USB to Serial converter built in, a FTDI breakout board or cable is required for programing over USB. Alternatively, the Arduino Pro 328 can be programmed using the ICSP header and this AVR programmer.
