Description
This BH1750 16-bit Ambient Light Sensor differs from other versions as it is contained within a sensor dome, giving it a much more “finished” look. The sensor provides 16-bit light measurements in lux, the SI unit for measuring light, making it easy to compare against other values like references and measurements from other sensors.
The BH1750 can measure from 0 to 65K+ lux and is ideal for any project needing to understand ambient lighting. It could be used to determine the brightness of displays, whether or not outdoor lights should be on, or where your solar powered robot should rest to recharge – the possibilities are endless!
This version of the sensor is enclosed, and while the cover isn’t weather resistant out of the box, it could be sealed in conjunction with a weatherproof enclosure to use outdoors without too much difficulty. For situations where the sensor is mounted permanently, the 20cm cable with keyed connectors makes it easy to disconnect.
This sensor can use 3.3V or 5V logic and connects using I2C. By default it is found at address 0x23. If the ADDR pin is connected to 0.7V or higher (up to VCC) the address can be changed to 0x5C. The housing measures 28.3mm in diameter with a total height of 27.5mm (including the connector).
