The QMC5883L breakout board is a compact 3-axis digital magnetometer module used for measuring magnetic fields and determining compass heading. It communicates via the I²C interface and features a high-resolution 16-bit ADC, low power consumption, and built-in temperature compensation, making it suitable for navigation, robotics, drones, and orientation sensing applications.

The sensor has adjustable range of ±1.3-8 Gauss and adjustable data rates up to 200Hz. This breakout board simplifies the use of this tiny sensor, just apply 3-5VDC and connect it to a microcontroller or single board computer’s i2c port. A host of libraries are available for popular platforms including Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
