Description
The Raspberry Pi 4 is the newest version of the Raspberry Pi. With three different versions available, this family of boards brings the Pi ever closer to a low cost desktop computer substitute. Each of the three versions are identical with the exception of the quantity of onboard RAM. This version features 8GB – the most powerful version to date.
The Pi 4 features the Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz , Dual Band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz), Bluetooth, true Gigabit Ethernet, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Dual monitor support with 2 × micro-HDMI ports (up to 4kp60 supported), H.265 (4kp60 decode), H264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode), OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics, and a new USB C connector for improved powering. The Pi 4 is backwards compatible with all HATs and features the same 40 pin GPIO header, 4 pin PoE header, CSI (Camera) port, DSI (display) port, and form factor we are all used to.
So what is the Raspberry Pi? It is a single board computer roughly the size of a credit card developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in the UK. The Pi was designed to promote basic computer science in schools and has grown to become so much more. It can act like a desktop computer, using a standard keyboard, mouse and monitor allowing you to browse the internet and learn to code; It can work as a media center connected to your TV, playing 1080P movies; It can act as a stand alone device much like an Arduino whirring away in the background running your next cool robot… The possibilities are endless!
If you have a bunch of accessories for the Raspberry Pi 2 or Raspberry Pi 3 – Good news! The Raspberry Pi 4 is compatible with most of the previous accessories; the form factor, location of existing connectors and headers are the same. However, changes have been made to the external connections for Power and Video.

Wow. This is awesome. Finally, a model with 8GB RAM. I have been waiting for this to happen for a while now. So happy that this is a thing now. I have been very tempted to make the switch from an x86 instruction set to something like this for my everyday computing needs. An offering like that certainly doesn’t make the temptation any easier to withstand either. Nice!

now they need to make the 16GB version they said was possible :D:D:D
