Raspberry Pi Fan HAT

Raspberry Pi Fan HAT

SKU: RAS-107 - Mfg Part Number: RAS-107

Over the years the Raspberry Pi has become much more powerful, and with each improvement, the Pi has run slightly hotter. Under heavy processing load, the Raspberry Pi 3, Pi 3+, and Pi 4 can reach temperatures of 80C. The Raspberry Pi 4 being the hottest of the bunch. Because of this, it will start throttling the CPU back to ensure it does not overheat. Slowing the processor to keep it running stable isn’t ideal for high performance applications.

This prototyping PCB holds a 40mm fan in place over the Pi and pushes air over the chipset and surrounding board. The board is designed with the Raspberry Pi 3/3+/4 in mind, but it is compatible with the Pi A+, B+, 2 as well. In order to keep things as simple as possible, the fan is powered by the 5V rail and will run as long as the Pi has power. For more adventurous users; the prototyping area allows the fan to be connected by way of a transistor, and controlled by the Pi.

On the Raspberry Pi 4 we are seeing temperature drop of up to 32°C during 4 core CPU stress testing (average CPU temperature of 48°C / ambient air 22°C)

Please Note: This board ships assembled without a header – Raspberry Pi not included. Basic soldering skills will be required to solder the header in place. We recommend picking up a Raspberry Pi HAT header and Raspberry Pi HAT hardware to complete the installation.
