The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ Compact is a enables you to connect M.2 peripherals such as NVMe drives to your Raspberry Pi 5’s PCIe 2.0 interface. This allows fast (up to 500 MB/s) data transfer to and from NVMe drives and other PCIe accessories. The Pi 5 is equipped with a single-land PCI Express 2.0 interface and this board is designed as a bridge between the FPC connector on the Pi and more common M.2 edge connector.

The  compact version of the HAT supports the 2230 M.2 standards and is capable of supplying up to 3A to connected M.2 devices. Since it conforms to the new HAT+ standards, the Pi can autodetect the presence of this board (provided your Pi 5 is running the latest firmware). This low profile version fits within the Official Raspberry Pi 5 Case.
