Description
This high quality weather-proof wind vane / wind direction sensor is the same sensor found in our Weather Meters set, and can be used as a replacement part or as a stand-alone unit. The sensor has a variable resistance depending on wind direction and can resolve 16 possible directions – a complete table of resistances and their associated direction are found in the datasheet in the resources section below.
The Wind Vane has a long cable terminated with a 6p4c RJ11 connector on the end. There is also a plug in the sensor’s base for the companion Anemometer to plug in – this allows both sensors data to be carried in a single cable. The wind vane’s cable can be connected directly to a RJ11 Breakout Board and hooked up on its own or to our Raspberry Pi Weather Board or SparkFun Weather Shield for Arduino.
Normally, this sensor fits onto a mounting bracket within the Weather Meter Kit; however, it can also be mounted on a vertical post with a 13.5mm diameter.
