Conventional RGB Strip Lighting only allows the entire strip to change color and brightness as one. This WS2812 based strip lighting is far superior! Each LED has its own integrated driver and is individually controllable. This allows for each LED in the strip to be a different color and brightness.

Since each LED has its own driver, there is no need for power transistors. Simply apply 5V DC power, and provide a digital signal and that’s it! Due to the frequency of the data signal, these require a real time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, ect. They will not work with Linux based micro-computers, Netduinos, or the Basic Stamp.

To use these LEDs: Connect your digital pin to the “IN” pad (data in) on the back of the module and supply power. The FastLED library for Arduino is a great starting point!

Each meter of strip lighting can draw up to 1.8A so a fairly beefy power supply is required to run anything over a meter. We have 2A, 5A, and 10A 5V power supplies available depending on the size of your installation. For lengths over 3 meters, the strip must be powered from both ends.

Please Note: This product is sold by the meter. Qty 1 = 1 meter. Depending on the length of piece ordered, there may be a connector on one end. For orders of 5 meters a single 5 meter piece will be shipped with connectors on both ends.
