New Product Roundup – November 12th to November 18th
This week we are back with a brightly lit New Product Roundup! We have a bunch of programmable RGB LEDs from SparkFun based on the APA102C chipset. Their Lumenati line of LED boards are perfect for unique lighting projects. We also have a very cool beginner electronics kit – just in time for the holidays. Lets go have a closer look at each!
SparkFun Lumenati 3×3The SparkFun Lumenati 3×3 is a bright, programmable, 3 x 3 RGB LED matrix. Each of the 9 LEDs are an APA102C chip and can be individually instructed to display a specific colour and brightness. These boards can also be daisy-chained to create larger displays and formations. The board uses standard 0.100” spacing for headers/connectors and can also be used in a solderless breadboard. |
SparkFun Lumenati 8-stickThe SparkFun Lumenati 8-stick is a bright, programmable, board with 8 RGB LEDs. Each of the 8 LEDs are an APA102C chip and can be individually instructed to display a specific colour and brightness. These boards can also be daisy-chained and combined with different Lumenati boards to create larger displays and formations. |
SparkFun Lumenati 90RThe Lumenati 90R is a 90 degree curve section of RGB LEDs. These use the same APA102C LEDs and are independently programmable. The shape of this board allows you to make a circle, or other complex shapes when soldered together. Each end has castellated edge connectors and can simply be soldered together.

SparkFun Lumenati 90LJust like the Lumenati 90R, the 90L is a 3 RGB LED formation – but the direction of the “In” and “Out” pins have been swapped to allow for interesting “S curve” Shapes. Just like the 90R, the 90L can be used to make a circle. |
130-in-1 Electronic PlaygroundThis is your classic electronics kit! The 130-in-1 Electronic Playground provides a great starting point into the world of electronics. Bending springs and inserting a jumper wire between the coils is key to creating simple circuits for 130 different experiments in this fun kit! |
