The Raspberry Pi Pico is the first microcontroller developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. It features their own in-house designed chip, the RP2040. It is a low-cost, high performance controller designed with Python in mind. It is easy to use and features a full getting started guide care of the Pi Foundation.

The Raspberry Pi Pico is a low-cost, high-performance microcontroller board with flexible digital interfaces. It features the RP2040 which marks Raspberry Pi’s first microcontroller designed in-house. Pico provides minimal (yet flexible) external circuitry to support the RP2040 chip (Flash, crystal, power supplies and decoupling and USB connector). The majority of the RP2040 microcontroller pins are brought to the user IO pins on the left and right edge of the board. Four RP2040 IO are used for internal functions – driving an LED, on-board Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) power control and sensing the system voltages.
Pico uses an on-board buck-boost SMPS which is able to generate the required 3.3 volts (to power RP2040 and external circuitry) from a wide range of input voltages (~1.8 to 5.5V). This allows significant flexibility in powering the unit from various sources such as a single Lithium-Ion cell, or 3 AA cells in series. Battery chargers can also be very easily integrated with the Pico powerchain. Reprogramming the Pico’s flash memory can be done using USB (simply drag and drop a file onto the Pico which appears as a mass storage device) or via the Serial Wire Debug (SWD) port. The SWD port can also be used to interactively debug code running on the RP2040
Pico has been designed to use either soldered 0.1″ pin-headers (it is one 0.1″ pitch wider than a standard 40-pin DIP package) or can be used as a surface mountable “module”, as the user IO pins are also castellated. There are SMT pads underneath the USB connector and BOOTSEL button, which allow these signals to be accessed if used as a reflow-soldered SMT module.

The kit has 12 screwdriver bits (P2, PH000, H2.0mm, H1.5mm, T4, T5, T6, T8, T10, T15, T20, a 1.5mm Flat) and a needle pin bit (for popping out sim cards, hitting device reset buttons). The T5 is hidden inside the screwdriver handle, just pop the black end cap off to get it out.
The three types of prying tools are used to open cases and enclosures and generally pry at things while reducing the risk of surface damage to whatever you are prying against. These are plastic and shouldn’t be forced too much!
The suction cup is used to help lift screens and generally pull things apart as well, the suction cup measures 36mm in diameter and has a handy pull ring.
All of these tools are stored in a hard plastic case with trays to keep everything in place.

With this version SparkFun has done away with the bright flashy colors that got them into trouble last time and gone with a nice, neutral gray.
This isn’t your expensive, flashy type of multimeter, this is for all those starving students that need to buy their first good, low-cost digital multimeter. This meter doesn’t have the ability to auto-power off, it isn’t capable of auto-ranging, and it won’t be able to measure frequency. However, with this multimeter you WILL be able to measure DC Voltage from 200mV to 600V, AC Voltage from 200V and 600v, DC Current between 200uA to 10A, and Resistance from 0 to 20M Ohm. We even left a meter on to test the battery life – it lasted more than 170 hours (7 days) before the included 9V gave out!

Solderless breadboards are one of the most useful things out there. Without them, prototyping circuits becomes a lot more cluttered or a lot more permanent! These breadboards feature rows and columns of interconnected sockets. Components can be placed in the breadboard and connected up using hookup wire or jumper wire to test a circuit, changed as necessary, and eventually ported to a more permanent solution once all the bugs are worked out.

This silicone mat is made of 2mm thick silicone and can take just about anything you throw at it. It is similar to our Insulated Silicone Soldering & Rework Mat but a little better suited to repairs rather than rework.
The silicone is just soft enough with some grip that it doesn’t slide around, and PCBs will stay in place. The heat insulation increases soldering efficiency and keeps whatever you’re working on safely in one spot. You can use hot air, soldering irons, etc without damage to either the mat or iron. It’s anti-stick and resistant to corrosion, glues and other adhesives, and it can be cleaned with some hot soap and water. This mat also features a screw placement grid to keep all those screws in order!

The chassis is anodized aluminum, and features many pre-tapped mounting holes. The holes are tapped with an M3 thread, meaning the chassis works well with our M3 Nylon Standoff Set. Mounting holes are compatible with most Arduino and other popular boards. The chassis itself may be purple or rose in color.
The kit includes two 3-6V gearmotors, two wheels, a ball caster wheel, and all of the hardware to assemble it.
Note: For Arduino, BBC micro:bit, and Raspberry Pi applications: we recommend using a 4 x AA battery pack. Most Arduino and Raspberry Pi motor controllers require a minimum of 4.5V to function (including the recommended products above). For Raspberry Pi we recommend a separate power source for the Raspberry Pi capable of supporting the Pi’s power needs.

What is the Pico? The Raspberry Pi Pico is a low-cost, high-performance microcontroller board with flexible digital interfaces. It feature the RP2040 which marks Raspberry Pi’s first microcontroller designed in-house. Pico provides minimal (yet flexible) external circuitry to support the RP2040 chip (Flash, crystal, power supplies and decoupling and USB connector). The majority of the RP2040 microcontroller pins are brought to the user IO pins on the left and right edge of the board. Four RP2040 IO are used for internal functions – driving an LED, on-board Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) power control and sensing the system voltages.
Pico uses an on-board buck-boost SMPS which is able to generate the required 3.3 volts (to power RP2040 and external circuitry) from a wide range of input voltages (~1.8 to 5.5V). This allows significant flexibility in powering the unit from various sources such as a single Lithium-Ion cell, or 3 AA cells in series. Battery chargers can also be very easily integrated with the Pico power chain. Reprogramming the Pico’s flash memory can be done using USB (simply drag and drop a file onto the Pico which appears as a mass storage device) or via the Serial Wire Debug (SWD) port. The SWD port can also be used to interactively debug code running on the RP2040
